Q: Does ReadOn read files like .txt or pdf? For example, if I have downloaded an ebook, will ReadOn be usable. I'd rather do that than scan books.  Read OutLoud
Answer:

ReadOn will read .txt files directly. Simply use the open option from the file menu.

For pdf’s, open the pdf file in Adobe Reader and use the "select tool" to copy the selected text into the clipboard and then paste it into ReadOn. Refer to "Copying Text" in Adobe Reader help. You can do the same with MS Word documents.

eBooks are a wonderful source of text for use with ReadOn. If you come across any that you think are particularly good, we’d love to hear about them.  Read OutLoud
