Q: What is OCR?  Read OutLoud
Answer:

OCR, an acronym for Optical Character Recognition, is a technology developed to translate images containing text into editable text. ReadOn’s OCR function works in conjunction with your scanner to capture and translate scanned pages of printed text into ReadOn.

The OCR function converts the pattern of black-and-white pixels into letters, a process that, while not perfect, provides an alternative way of entering printed text into ReadOn. Of course, it is important to have a clean original with good contrast and standard fonts. In general, if the original document is difficult to read, ReadOn’s OCR function will also have a difficult time processing it.  Read OutLoud
